When it comes to history Valvori and the surrounding area is steeped in history ranging from the 6th centuary BC necropolis at Monte Santa Croce through the ruins of the Roman period to the mediaeval splendour of the Abbey of Montecassino to the Battles of Cassino which led to the destruction of Montecassino and a huge battle at Monte Santa Croce. Funny how history frequents the same locations over time.
